We had an early morning-7am to be on the sleeper bus. The sleeper bus was a neat experience though. We had to take our shoes off and put them in a plastic bag as soon as we got on the bus. The seats were decently comfortable and the back could recline almost all the way down or be propped up to a seated position. We only had a 4 hour ride to HoiAn so it wasn't too bad. We stopped at a rest area around Danang and from there it was only a short distance to HoiAn.
In HoiAn we took taxis to our hotel and had an hour to freshen up. Then we started our walking tour of the city. Phil and Kristin had already given me a heads up as this was their favorite city while they toured SE Asia, and I was in love almost immediately. We stopped at a temple for a little and I got a fried banana pancake. Our walking tour ended at a tailor shop that Bac knew and the rest of the afternoon and evening was free time.
Olivia decided she wanted to have a winter coat made so I waited as she got her measurements and talked through details with one of the workers. Then we wandered around the city taking everything in. We found a small festival going on and walked through it. We noticed they were playing some kind of Bingo/Loto game and were persuaded to buy a card and one woman offered to help us. We didn't win anything, but it was a really fun experience to do! After Loto, we went in search of dinner and found a place with a small set menu that sounded good to us. After we finished eating we were sitting and waiting for our bill when a group of some of team walked by! They waited for us and then we all walked around together. Olivia and I got another banana pancake, but it wasn't as good as the one earlier in the day.
