This morning we had a pretty leisurely morning on the boat. They made us breakfast which was alright-they had an egg station but only made us one egg each. Now, toast on the other hand, well...I think they we excited about toasting bread because there were HEAPS of toast. Literally enough pieces for each of us to have 6 or more. It was kind of foggy in the morning so it was a little disappointing the view of Halong Bay wasn't that great. After breakfast they also showed us how to carve flowers out of vegetables and make a "carrot net" which they used as garnish on the fish they served at dinner last night. It was actually a net made out of carrot!
We met up with Bac and the 3 that didn't do the tour with us and got on our bus back to Hanoi. Again, we stopped at a rest area and had a snack/late lunch. Olivia and I split some noodles and got ice cream. I think it's funny that the food cost less than the ice cream. Once in Hanoi, Bac organized us for a food walking tour before we were to grab our overnight train. We stopped at a few stalls-one with small sandwiches, steamed rolls with different fillings, and grilled meats. He wanted to show a few other things, but some regular stalls he was familiar with weren't open because of the upcoming holiday. We returned to the hotel and Bac was great by ordering some take-away food for us to have dinner on the train. We grabbed our belongings and took the bus to the train station.
Bac assigned us sleeper cars--I was with Olivia, Jenn, and Joanne. We were also in 1st class cars, so it was only 4 people to a car. It wasn't a bad way to travel at all really. We ate our dinner and chatted. A little bit later some of the other cabins started wandering around and we visited with each other. It was a nice way to get to know each other in smaller groups. Finally around 11 we decided we'd head to bed. The beds weren't that uncomfortable and the rocking of the train helped bring on some sleep.
